April Ross
April Ross has won more than one gold medal in the Olympic Games. Ross is among a few female beach volleyball players that have done so. Alix Kallineman is set to compete alongside April Ross in Tokyo to take home her third gold medal during the coming days. In addition, Ross hopes to win the first Olympic gold. The next opportunity for her as she is 39 years old. She's still feeling confident nevertheless. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that he felt confident we could achieve a gold medal, in the event that we perform at our highest. Therefore, I'm hoping to have an extra bit of luck as well. Ross is born in the year 1982. Costa Mesa California where she resided with her parents and sister. Ross went on to play across a variety of activities as a student at Newport Harbor High School. As a student-athlete she also participated in indoor track and volleyball. However she was clearly a distinguished athlete in her other sport. During her high school career she played middle blocker out hitter and setter on the volleyball court per her college bio. She was named the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999 for her achievements. She also captured the 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Though Ross and Klineman have been doing their thing since 2017, the former had already been a major athlete on the beach prior to their team. She was a winner of multiple major tournaments with two partners. One of which is an icon of volleyball. In 2007 through 2013, she was working with Jennifer Kessy, who is currently her coach. Along together with Kessy, Ross won an Olympic Title in 2009 while competing in the international circuit. They eventually won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. They were knocked out of the gold medal by the famous team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). In the end, fate had it that way. Ross got Walsh Jennings' new partner when May-Treanor retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a player for the Trojans from USC during high school after she finished in high school. Her experience at USC was exceptional. As a freshman in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 and NCAA All-American Freshman of Year recognition and earned an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to reach the Final Four. After her sophomore year, she went through a heartbreaking personal loss, yet was capable of being selected as an All-American. The two years following her she led the Trojans to the top of the hill and clinched consecutive national titles. In her own way she established herself as a legend by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award was presented to the top female college player from the United States. Ross took a course in international relations at USC. Unfortunately Ross mother Margie did not get to see her daughter reach the top levels of beach volleyball fame. At the time of 2001, while Ross was in her sophomore year studying at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. Yet, she is able to keep her mother's memory close and dear. Also, Margie continues to be an encouragement for her at the beach and in her daily life.
